Though calligraphy has been practised for centuries, it has always been thought of as just beautiful writing; limited to good penmanship. Most would associate it with religious or decorative writing. Qamar Dagar, however, believes that we need to break away from these restrictions. She thinks of the alphabets as designs in their own right and treats them as raw material - to be interpreted and augmented as she likes.
