BHARTI AIRTEL has announced that it will deliver seamless connectivity and convenience for its customers visiting the Char Dham locations – Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri in 2018.

Airtel is the only private mobile operator that is providing 4G/3G/2G connectivity at the char dham locations currently. The char dham locations are remote and are often known for low-zero connectivity in terms of mobile services.

Airtel recently restored network connectivity at Kedarnath as part of the restoration efforts following the devastating floods in June 2013.  The company also said that their network teams have overcome rough terrain and harsh weather to ensure network connectivity at all the four locations and has also beefed up its network across Uttarakhand.

As India’s largest mobile network, we continuously strive to ensure that our customers stay connected wherever they are. Char Dham is a key pilgrimage and Airtel customers visiting these locations will be able to access our services and keep in touch with friends and family.

-Sanjiv Mishra, COO, Bharti Airtel UPW

Headquartered in New Delhi, India, Airtel ranks amongst the top 3 mobile service providers globally in terms of subscribers. Bharti Airtel had over 413 million customers across its operations at the end of March 2018.

The company is has put up a brave fight with the rising popularism of Jio as a preferred network for many Indians. This move will certainly give an edge to Airtel over its rivals in the highly competitive Indian mobile phone operator market.

Recently, Reliance-owned Jio responded to Airtel’s segmented offer by launching a new plan for their customers. Jio introduced offer of Rs 100 less on Rs 399 plan along with double data of 3GB/day to all Jio customers for the month of June.

Jio also claimed that it has the best tariff plans in the country for customers. Airtel has been keeping their pace up in competing with Jio on every front. Being the only private network provider for pilgrims in 2018 has certainly put the company at an advantage.
