iPhone XS, XS Max and XR launched with Dual-sim support, India Prices Released The iPhone XS and the XS Max will be available in India from September 28 while the XR will be available in October

APPLE’s phones for 2018 are officially here. The smartphone maker launched three new devices, the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR, in an event held at its Cupertino headquarters.

The notch has become a series regular signaling the death of the home button. The security system has got an upgrade with the phones using Face ID to unlock the device.

The biggest update, especially for India, is the introduction of the dual-sim system, something Apple has resisted all this while.

However, the dual-sim system is implemented using an eSIM and not an actual second SIM. In India, Airtel and Jio are the only two telecom service providers who offer eSIMs.

iPhone XS and XS Max

Apple has called these two phones its “most advanced phones ever” and claims to have taken “vision for the future of the smartphone to a new level”.

The XS and the XS Max are essentially the same, spec-wise, with the major difference being the screen size.

The XS has a 5.8-inch Super Retina OLED screen while the XS Max has a 6.5-inch screen size. According to the company, the devices have the highest pixel density than any Apple device.

Things have become exciting on the colour front, too. The phones will now be available in gold as well as the regular silver and space gray finish.

The two phones run on iOS 12 out-of-the-box and are powered by the A12 bionic chipset.

In comparison to the iPhone X, Apple claims that the new chipset gives the new devices a longer battery life—30 minutes extra on the XS and an hour and a half longer on the XS Max.

Apple has stuck to its Type-A charger on the new devices despite speculations of a Type-C charger doing the rounds.

The camera has a got an upgrade with a 12-megapixel dual (wide-angle telephoto secondary sensor) rear camera on both devices. The front gets a 7-megapixel sensor.

The devices will be available in 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options and will be on sale in India starting September 28.

In India, the XS and the XS Max will start at Rs 99,900 and Rs 109,900, respectively, through Apple Authorised Resellers.

iPhone XR

Now this one is supposed to be Apple’s attempt at a budget device, the biggest joke if there ever was one!

The iPhone XR, Apple’s ‘budget’ device, has an edge-to-edge 6.1-inch LCD Retina screen.

Instead of the 3D Touch, which was seen in the iPhone 6S, this one comes with a Haptic Touch which allows users to launch apps such as the camera or flashlight by pressing the home screen.

Like the XS and the XS Max, this device is also powered by an A12 Bionic chipset and runs on iOS 12.

The XR sports a single 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 7-megapixel front camera with Face ID capabilities.

The device will be available in 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options in Black, Blue, Coral, White, Yellow and Product(RED) variants and will available for pre-order from October 19 with shipments starting October 26.

The XR will be priced at Rs 76,900 for the 64 GB variants.

None of the devices come with a headphone jack which means you will be shelling out a lot of money on the accessories.

The devices have got a uniform upgrade in terms of the better water and splash resistance, wireless charging and Animoji.
