Teenager Prithvi Shaw Smashes Ton on Test Debut Shaw also became the second youngest Indian to score a test century

@anirbanroy

DEBUTANT Indian teenager Prithvi Shaw announced his arrival in test cricket in style, hitting a century on debut against the West Indies at Rajkot.

Shaw, 18, also became the second youngest Indian to score a test century, following Sachin Tendulkar’s feat playing against England in Manchester in 1990.

Shaw has been regularly writing his name in record books with his stellar performances in school and then domestic cricket, feats which gave him his India cap this morning ahead of the day’s play at Rajkot.

He had also hit a century on his Ranji Trophy debut and Duleep Trophy debut.

India captain Virat Kohli handed the coveted India cap no. 293 to Shaw after the team huddle and with a brief pep talk. Team members were then seen congratulating him.

India is playing the first test match in a series of two tests against the West Indies at Rajkot. India won the toss and captain Kohli decided to bat first.
