Asian Games 2018: Bopanna, Sharan Win Tennis Doubles Gold Bopanna and Sharan won their maiden doubles gold at the Asian Games in Jakarta


INDIA’s Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan won their maiden doubles gold at the Asian Games in Jakarta, beating Aleksander Bublik and Denis Yevseyev of Kazakhstan 6-3, 6-4 in the finals.

The top seeds played to their form and billing, holding their serve with Bopanna finishing in style with his powerful serves.

This is India’s second medal in Tennis at the games after Ankita Raina won the bronze in the women’s single category.

Earlier, rowing got India some metals this morning, moving up India’s collection on the tally board.

India won a team gold in rowing after Dattu Bhokanal, Sawarn Singh, Sukhmeet Singh and Om Prakash won the Men’s Quadruple Sculls final.

India won two bronze medals too with Dushyant Chauhan winning one in men’s Lightweight Single Sculls and then Rohit Kumar and Bhagwan Singh finishing third in the Men’s Lightweight Double Sculls event.

In shooting, India’s Heena Sidhu won the bronze medal in women’s 10m Air Pistol final. Indian teenager Manu Bhaker finished 5th.

This was India’s 9th medal in shooting at the Games.
