How to Motivate Yourself to Exercise and Improve Productivity at Work Here are a few ways to motivate yourself and get inspired to workout and do better

IF YOU exercise regularly, you understand there are many more benefits other than just weight loss or staying in shape. Exercise helps improve all aspects of your life, including work productivity.

Being productive and alert at work can help you get your job done faster, and definitely better. If you don’t exercise regularly, you could be putting your health—and your job—at risk.

Be it a sedentary job or dynamic in nature such as in factories, it is always difficult to find time for workout. But if you are committed to being fit, you make time for it without excuses.

So, how to get things started? Well there are numerous ways to motivate yourself and get inspired to workout and here are a few:

The Most Important: How ‘A Fitter You’ would make you feel. Let the visualisation drive you to achieve that desired goal.

Time. If you are committed to taking out time to take care of your family, caring for yourself should be a priority. Out of 1440 minutes in a day, 30 minutes is all one needs for a dedicated exercise session.

Reading blogs on success and transformation stories. In today’s world of social media, even small stories and quotes of inspiration spread like wildfire. Reading such motivational quotes and stories would help tremendously to start off.

Setting up small goals. One should not begin with a higher target in mind. With time and smaller practical targets—the weight you want to achieve, the no. of hours/days to be put in workout per week —the endurance for going further will steadily increase.

A sense of achievement. The Adrenaline Rush and feeling after a good workout is of absolute Joy. It would even drive you to achieve targets once you thought are beyond your limits. With a large number of marathon/cyclothon/triathlons happening now, signing up for one and achieving the target would surely make you go raring for more.

How Exercise would help in Improving Work Productivity?

– Alertness and Energy
One way that exercise can help boost productivity at work is through alertness. When you exercise, you are also increasing blood flow to the brain, which can help sharpen your awareness and make you more ready to tackle your next big project. It also helps in boosting energy to perform your work correctly and to the best of your ability.

– Optimum Physical Health
Being in your best physical health will help improve your overall work ability. Not only can exercising help reduce body weight and the risk for certain medical conditions you also will have improved cardiovascular health, which will give you more stamina to meet the physical demands of your job to meet the expectations required for your position.

– Improves Mental Health
One way to be more productive on the job is to have improved mental health. Regular exercise can help curb feelings of anxiety and depression. Regular exercise may also help you deal better with stress, which is common in the workplace.

– Illness Prevention
Regular exercise that includes power walking, running, weight lifting, swimming or cycling can help reduce your risk of developing certain types of illness and disease. This means fewer sick days at work. Exercise reduces your risk of developing heart diseases, hypertension, and obesity – all of which can interfere with work productivity.
