Elon Musk Apologizes for Calling British Caver ‘Pedo’ Musk had called Unsworth a ‘pedo guy’, leading to a controversy with many calling it a baseless attack on a hero

TESLA FOUNDER and CEO Elon Musk has apologized for calling British caver Vernon Unsworth a “pedo guy”, or pedophile.

Musk faced a barrage of criticism and intense backlash after Unsworth, a caver who was part of the rescue team that brought out the 12 boys and their soccer coach from a flooded cave in Thailand, called his mini-sub a PR stunt and that “he should stick his submarine where it hurts”.

Musk had reacted to Unsworth by calling him a ‘pedo guy’, leading to a controversy with many calling it a baseless attack on a hero. People had reacted angrily with some calling his allegation and remarks uncharitable and unhinged.

This was after Musk had offered to help in rescue efforts by building a mini-submarine which he personally delivered to the rescue team in the cave.

Reacting to a tweet by Adam Chavez, Musk tweeted that his words were spoken in anger after Unsworth “suggested I engage in a sexual act with the mini-sub”.

He said: “Nonetheless, his actions against me do not justify my actions against him, and for that I apologize to Mr. Unsworth and to the companies I represent as leader. The fault is mine and mine alone.”

Unsworth had said that he was contemplating legal action against the billionaire for his statement and allegations. Tesla shares had also taken a beating after Musk’s tweets, with the company’s shares shedding up to 4% of its value.
