AT LEAST 15 people were injured in an explosion at an Indian restaurant in Mississauga, a suburb of Toronto in Canada, local police said.

The explosion at the ‘Bombay Bhel’ restaurant was reported around 10.30 pm local time and caused significant damage. Photos from the scene showed the shattered windows of the restaurant and debris scattered in the parking lot.

Three people with critical injuries were taken to a local trauma center,  paramedic first responders said.

After the incident, local police released a photo of two men wearing hoodies suspected to have detonated an Improvised Explosive Device within the restaurant. The suspects fled the scene immediately after the incident, the police said.

India’s foreign minister Sushma Swaraj confirmed the incident in a tweet and said that “India’s missions will work round the clock” to provide any assistance.
