A MAN was shot and killed after he rammed his vehicle, forced his way inside and ransacked the home of Former Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir and leaders of the National Conference Party Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah in Jammu.

The unarmed man was identified by the police as Murfas Shah, a resident of Poonch. The Abdullahs were not at home at the time of the breach.

The intrusion is being seen as a major security lapse as the Abdullahs have the top category Z-Plus protection. At the time of the incident, Farooq Abdullah was in Delhi.

A security officer was also injured in the incident. “The intruder breached the main gate & went inside. He had a scuffle with the duty officers there. Duty officer was also injured,” SSP of Jammu Vivek Gupta told ANI.

CRPF officials stationed at the house fired on the intruder and his vehicle as it rammed and entered the house. He then managed to enter the lobby and was running up the stairs to the bedroom when he was shot.

Jammu and Kashmir’s police chief SP Vaid said a case had been registered and an inquiry is being conducted into the car-breach.

The father of the intruder was seen asking “I want to know why was he killed. Where were the security guards when he breached the gate? Why didn’t they arrest him?”

Farooq Abdullah is a lawmaker from Srinagar and his son Omar is a member of the state assembly.
