India to Buy S-400 Missile System from Russia

@otuslive

RUSSIAN President Vladimir Putin is in India for the 19th edition of the India-Russia Annual Bilateral Summit. Putin held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi’s Hyderabad House.

The two nations have signed 8 agreements that are expected to bolster Indo-Russian relations.

The most significant is an over $5 billion deal in which India agreed to buy the S-400 Long Range Surface-to-Air Missile System. India went ahead with the contract despite the US hinting at sanctions against countries buying advanced military hardware from Russia.

In a joint statement, PM Modi said: “Russia has stood by India through time and has played a crucial role in India’s growth story.”

President Putin has invited Prime Minister Modi to Russia for the 20th edition of the India-Russia bilateral Summit to be held in 2019.
