HOTEL-BOOKING startup OYO has appointed Aditya Ghosh as its Chief Executive Officer for India and South Asia days after raising $800 million in a funding round led by its existing investor Softbank.

“Today, we welcome Aditya Ghosh as the Chief Executive Officer for OYO Hotels, India and South Asia to lead the next wave of growth at OYO”, a post on the Facebook page of OYO said.

Ghosh will join OYO on Dec. 1 and will report to the Founder and Group CEO Ritesh Agarwal.

“Extremely excited to welcome Aditya Ghosh to the OYO family as we gear up to write the next chapter of OYO growth story”, said Agarwal in a tweet.

Ghosh, 42, had resigned as the president and whole-time director of IndiGo in April and is an alumnus of Delhi University’s Law Faculty and had joined IndiGo in 2008.

In a tweet, Ghosh said “awesome opportunity to deliver high-quality accommodation in the best of locations at affordable prices in the best of locations across the world”.

Gurugram headquartered OYO is in an aggressive global expansion mode post its recent fundraise with its China foray posting big numbers.

The appointment of Ghosh is seen as an attempt to bolster its top management with the best possible talent as it expands to newer markets and adds more rooms.
